Women over 40 who have no health insurance or are under-insured can get free screenings for breast and cervical cancer from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday at Nyack Hospital.
The screening will include a mammogram, clinical breast exam and pelvic exam.
So far this year, the hospital has provided free screenings for 819 women. More than 1,000 women received the free tests in 2012.
If any abnormalities are found, women are referred for follow up care.
The screenings are provided by the hospital with the assistance of a grant from the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Chronic Disease Control.
To register for a free breast screening, contact the Breast Center at Nyack Hospital at 845-348-8551. Assistance in Spanish is available at 845.348.8582 or the Cancer Services Program of the Hudson Valley Region at 855-277-4482, ext. 3005
Walk-ins are welcome but registration is recommended.
